Writing
About my writing journey…
I have loved words and writing since I was a nipper! One of my earliest memories is my Mum sitting next to me on the sofa, reading a story about Yogi Bear. Each Christmas my parents would take me to a supermarket outside of Bristol and I’d choose 20 paperbacks. At that point it was Enid Blyton, the Folk of The Faraway Tree that I loved, but I quickly became a pain to the librarians at our local library as I’d read the books I took out in the morning and bring them back in the afternoon to get another lot out!
I fell into journalism after university, and wrote articles on varied topics from computers, to Greek restaurants to film and theatre, which were the articles I liked writing best.
Somewhere along the line, I rediscovered the love for the theatre that I’d had at school. I wrote a play ‘Pretty Boy’ followed by ‘He Said, She Said’, both performed in London, and ‘Seven Tunes on the Flute’, which was performed in Italy.
I also write short stories, I’ll do a post about where you can get hold of my short stories, if you want to read more, some are still online.
And most recently, of course, I’ve got into drawing and graphic novels…
I’ve taught creative writing, specializing in playwriting for over ten years, so I’ll be writing about a wide range of Word Adjacent topics!
